Look who's 40!

We enjoyed a steak dinner and cake the night before Marand’s 40th birthday (to help throw him off the ‘surprise party’ on the 9th)

We surprised him on Wednesday with a genuine ‘Old Folks Home’ meal with friends and family. It was a hoot.

He was escorted in wearing slippers, and suspenders, riding in a wheel chair. The tables were decorated with balloons and toy wind-up chompers (dentures) on feet. I instructed all the adult guests to remain seated during the entire meal, while they were served by the kids. I read Psalm 37:25 out loud “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread”.

After they took their ‘pills/vitamins’ (tic-tacks and peanut M&M’s), they were served prune juice and helped to have a napkin ‘bib’ folded into the collar of their shirts. The 53 guests were served pre-loaded trays of Salsbury Steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and jello. All chased down with tums and water.

We wrapped up the evening with two rousing rounds of BINGO. The winners were serenaded with "For he’s a jolly good fellow”. What a good sport Marand was, and what Sillyness abounds to keep spirit laughing. Praise God.

More August Happenings!

We had a late night visitor a week ago! Needless to say, I look both ways before heading out my back door!

Mt. Buffalo - conquered! This may, very well, be the one and only summit-ing photo you’ll ever see of Marand, so take a good look!

This is the week of July when the ‘bigs’ are at camp IdRaHaJe. The week when, each year, I start to feel the sands of summer quickly slipping through my fingers. I enjoy spending quality time with the ‘littles’, and start thinking about the fall semester of school. Needless to say, I covet your prayers! Please Lord, help me ‘train them up in the way they should go’. (and keep my sanity in the process ;)

End of School Field Trip!

Sooooo, I have to confess, that my nearly 42 year old body had to be encouraged into leading this adventure…but was blessed abundantly that it went off ‘without a hitch’. I planned a trek to the Denver Mint and Capitol building for a group of 19 homeschool kids. Two other mamas joined me, and we bravely adventured on uncharted waters!

First time sleep-overs for a 5:00am departure time…

We made it down to the ‘free ticket’ window in the allotted one hour (7-8am) they are open time frame for a 9:30 tour of the mint! Praise God. Just for fun sometime, you should read the website that tells you how to tour the mint…no advance tickets, only same day…no on-line booking…no guarentee of a tour time….many hoops to jump through…But I’m so thankful that Our great God takes note of the fervent prayers of his girl.

Even down to the blessing of early morning parking/driving ease, and an open at 7:30am capitol building so we could use the potties.

Calafornia Trek!

We had a great trip to California this past spring break week! Our days with niece Liz included going to a movie, playing at the park and a beach with seals!

Wow, Jacob….Love that goof. So thankful for a ‘twin’ sister to help ground him ;)

Yep….pretty great spot to be for a vacation. Time is such a gift. Just one ‘bummer’ in that, our car’s alternator decided to quit, and we spent 4 hours in a Honda dealership and $900 on the way home….sad, but SO THANKFUL for the: couldn’t have been better spot it died, the day it did, and the opportunity it gave us to ‘live joyful in all circumstances’ in front of our kids. God is in complete control, his divine hand in our lives is so powerfully evident. We worship Him with every breath we breath, now and forever in eternity because of JESUS.

Life makes may day!

This is my friend, Gary. He gave me roses that he walked to the store and bought. What a blessing to share lunch with he and his visiting family this past Sunday. He lets me come and clean his house/talk his ear off once a month, and it makes my day.
